I am committed to the discovery and application of natural and discarded
materials into integrated expressions of my life as an artist. I hope
to increase the visual awareness of beauty found in every day living
- cracks in sidewalks, torn paper, leaves in a puddle.
In my work, I have explored the beauty of discarded materials, the play
of one color upon another and reconstruction of disassembled forms in
abstract painting. With my work, I encourage viewers to derive their
own meaning in looking at art.
In 1992 and 1993, I participated in a number of artist retreats outside
the United States where I was able to integrate local materials, colors
and rhythms into my work. Each of these retreats provided for me the
community and creative space to inspire me in my work.
Art can elevate the emotional textures of life and increase one's consciousness.
My desire is that I have conveyed what I have found and inspire others
to find beauty in discarded materials.
